Giawhag ni Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma atol sa iyang Palm Sunday mass, Abril 13, 2025, ang katawhan nga mamalandong ning Semana Santa pinaagi sa paghinumdom sa mga panghitabo nga nalatid sa bibliya.
Sa iyang homily, gibalik ni Palma ang panghitabo diin nisulod si Hesus sa Jerusalem ug gidawat siya sa katawhan pinaagi sa pagwarawara og sanga sa mga lukay.
Niingon siya nga posible nga mao sab kining mga tawhana nga unang ningdayeg kang Jesus apan sa ulahi, mao ang nanawagan nga siya ilansang sa krus nga usa ka paghulagway nga dili lig-on ang pagtuo sa tawo.
Gigamit ni Palma ang iyang homily aron ihilambigit ang mga panghitabo nga nalatid sa bibliya kabahin sa pagsulod ni Hesus sa Jerusalem ngadto sa personal nga espirituhanong panaw sa usa matag tawo.
“There were times that we, too, in some ways are like those people, who at one point might have sung praises to God and yet at other times left God, insulted him, became, as it were, his enemy. This is because of our abandonment, because of our sins, because of our actions,” matod ni Palma.
Gidugang niya ang mga pagsinggit nga “Hosanna” ngadto sa panawagan nga ilansang si Hesus sa krus nga nagpakita sa kalit nga pag-usab sa pagbati sa mga tawo.
"This is the division of sentiments, the change in the dispositions of the people—joyfully welcoming him, and then in anger, some still shouting for his crucifixion," pasabot ni Palma.
"If we reflect, all of us possibly have the same story in our lives. At one point, we are joyfully thanking God and longing for his grace and salvation, but in life’s journey, it’s possible that times of trouble, darkness, and various experiences come, like Saint Peter who received the privilege of being with Jesus on Tabor, but then abandoned him, denied him."
Ang Semana Santa mahuman pinaagi sa pagsaulog sa Dominggo sa Pagkabanhaw karong Abril 20.
Ang mensahe ni Palma nagpahinumdom sa kapasidad sa mga tawo sa paghangop sa lig-on nga pagtuo ug hasta sa kapakyasan.
"The hope of Holy Week is the hope that no matter the state of a person, the love of God endures," batbat ni Palma.
